I could have used reference but i opted not to so I could maintain the illustrative qualities, I also just in general don't like using refs when dealing with portrait work because its very easy to just fall into "copy" mode. anyway I had a lot of fun with it, to get all the fine rendering of the dark image I painted it in a much lighter version and later lowered the levels to get the darkness I was aiming for. I hope you like it, I may be doing a series of these for the clients remaining characters but we'll see thanks for viewing and I'd love to hear your comments!

It took about a weekend on photoshop, nothing to extensive. the folks over at deviantart ate this up lol, and it receive a daily deviation.Obviously the figure was my focus so i didn't worry to much about the background. Originally it was a flat color but I recently added a little more in, I think it looses a bit of the model feel to it but having nothing in the background was bugging me. you can still see the original on my site, so at the moment this new version is cgsociety exclusive haha.

It was created in photoshop I had fun creating the skin, so much in fact that I'm working on another face thats going to have as much detail as I can possibly jam in. I had some trouble choosing the cropping because I wanted to be close enough to see all the work I did on the skin but far enough away that you could see the hair and such. I hope it looks alright.
